May 4th is almost here, and we're going into launch with a stack of new features built specifically to make ReelRifter a daily habit — not just a watchlist you check once a week. Here's everything we shipped in the final sprint.
Continue Watching
The single most-requested thing from beta testers: a fast way to jump back into whatever you were watching without digging through your full list. The Continue Watching strip lives at the top of your dashboard and shows every TV show you're actively watching, with a season/episode badge and a one-tap button to bump an episode. Tap the title to go straight to the detail page.
It sounds simple. It's the thing people open the app for now.
Watch Time Estimator & Pace Predictor
On every TV show and movie detail page, ReelRifter now shows you:
- Hours remaining for a show you're currently watching (calculated from your current season/episode and the episode runtimes)
- Total runtime for anything on your Want to Watch list
- Finish date prediction — based on how many episodes per day you've actually been watching recently, not some made-up estimate
The pace predictor is especially useful when you're trying to catch up before a new season premieres.
Episode Recap Card
We've all been there: return to a show after a three-week break and have no idea what's happening. The Episode Recap Card (we call it "Previously On…") shows the previous episode's overview on the detail page before you start the next one. It's spoiler-safe by default — blurred until you click to reveal — and it handles cross-season boundaries, so it shows the right episode even when you're starting a new season.
Streaming Value Dashboard
Go to /streaming-value to see your full monthly and annual streaming spend, broken down by service. We pull from the services you've connected in Settings and show you:
- Monthly cost per service
- Annual total
- Which service has the most of your Want to Watch list
It's the answer to "am I actually getting value out of all these subscriptions?" in one view. You can jump straight to the Subscription Optimizer from there to act on it.
Friends Feed Widget
Pro users with at least one accepted friend now see a compact activity timeline on their dashboard — what friends are watching, finishing, and rating, with links to their profiles. It shows the 5 most recent actions and links to the full activity feed. It auto-hides if you have no friends yet, so it's not clutter for new users.
Hidden Gem of the Week
Every Monday, ReelRifter picks one underrated title — something with a high vote average but low mainstream recognition — and surfaces it as a card on your dashboard. One-click to add it to your watchlist. One-click to dismiss it for the week if it's not for you. It refreshes the following Monday regardless.
Traveler's Download Report
Heading somewhere without reliable Wi-Fi? Go to /travel-downloads and we'll build a personalized offline queue from your watchlist, organized into four tiers:
- Continue Watching — shows you're mid-episode on
- Movie Night — movies from your Want to Watch list
- On Your List — shows you want to start
- Worth Rewatching — things you rated 8+ and might enjoy again
Check off what you want, then copy the list or print it. Simple.
ReelRifter Recommends
We get asked a lot what streaming stick to buy. Now there's an answer: /recommends. It's a curated page of our top picks for streaming hardware — for your living room and for travel — with honest reviews and affiliate-disclosed Amazon links. Everything on there we'd actually buy.
9 New Push Notifications
The notification system got a major expansion. Nine new push types now available:
- Streak at Risk — fired at 8pm if your streak would break tonight
- Show Renewed — when a show on your watchlist gets renewed or a new season is confirmed
- Show Returning from Hiatus — when a show you're watching gets a new air date after a long gap
- Leaving Soon Final Warning — 24 hours before a title in your watchlist disappears from its service
- New Trailer Available — when a new official trailer drops for anything on your watchlist
- Season Finale This Week — 7 days' notice that the season finale is coming
- Weekly Watch Recap — every Sunday with your episode count, streak, and finished titles for the week
- Hidden Gem Spotlight — Monday morning when the weekly gem is chosen
- Award Nominations — when a title on your watchlist picks up Emmy, Oscar, or Golden Globe nominations
All of these go through the same push notification system you already opted into. You can manage preferences in Settings.
Community Reviews — Season Filtering
The community reviews section on every TV show page now has a filter tab row: All · S1 · S2 · …. Filter to any season to see what people thought of specific runs, not just the show overall. Especially useful for shows that changed significantly between seasons.
That's the full list. We're live on May 4th. If you've been on the waitlist, you'll get an email that morning. If you want to sign up now, you can do that here.
