Overview
ReelRifter's Friends feature turns solo watching into a social experience. See what your friends are watching, compare your taste, and discover titles through people whose opinions you actually trust.
Adding Friends
Search by username or email at /friends. Send a friend request — the recipient gets a notification and can accept or decline. You can also import friends from Trakt if you import your data.
Taste Score
Each friendship shows a Taste Score (0–100%) — a calculated similarity between your rating histories, genre preferences, and finished titles. A high score means you tend to love the same things; a low score means you're good foils for recommendations.
Browsing a Friend's Watchlist
With your friend's permission (visible on their public profile settings), you can browse their Watchlist filtered by status. You'll see their ratings, what they're currently watching, and what they've finished.
Activity Feed
The activity feed at /friends shows real-time updates:
- •Friend started watching X
- •Friend rated X a 9/10
- •Friend finished season 2 of X
- •Friend added X to their Watchlist
You can react to activity items with emoji or leave a comment.
Privacy Controls
Each user controls what activity is shared with friends vs. kept private via Settings → Privacy. Individual shows can also be marked private.
